Quick Guide to Entering
This page is a guide to assist in the entry process,
and is not a substitute for the Guru Awards Terms & Conditions.
THE 2022 GURU AWARDS
The 2022 Guru Awards consist of Six Categories (UW Characters; UW Scenes, Topside Scenes, Aquatic Abstracts, Underwater Black & White, Reportage); a public People’s Choice Vote; the Guru Grand Prize and; a separate Take 3 Photo Contest.
NUMBER OF ENTRIES
You may enter a maximum of six images into the Guru Awards Categories. These can all be in one Category or spread across the Categories of your choice. (Note that to be eligible for the Guru Grand Prize you must enter one entry into at least three of the categories)
COST OF ENTRY
The Entry Fee is AUD$25 per image, payable during the online entry process.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE VOTE ELIGIBILITY
All shortlisted entries will be considered for the People’s Choice Voting Pool.
GURU GRAND PRIZE ELIGIBILITY
Photographers who enter one image in at least three Categories are automatically in the running for the Guru Grand Prize.
ENTRY PROCESS
Review the Terms and Conditions BEFORE starting your entry (Strongly Advised)
Submit your entries online at the Underwater Tour Awards Registration and Entry page.
ENTRY CHECKLIST
To complete your online entry, you will need the following:
- Up to six entries that satisfy all criteria set out in the Terms and Conditions
- JPEG files, prepared to the Awards file format and size convention (see below)
- Accurate caption Information including Location (see below)
- Credit Card for payment of entry fee

FILE FORMAT & SIZE
- JPEG ONLY saved at high or maximum quality
- Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB colour space
- 3600 pixels along the longest dimension
- Maximum file 5MB
- No borders, watermarks, or signatures should be included.
CAPTION INFORMATION
Captions/descriptions must be complete, true, and accurate, and provide a simple description of what is depicted in the photograph, including the location it was photographed.
